Can you name eight graphemes for the long a sound?
When I first started learning about phonics, this was hard for me.
Sure, we can often get the easy ones, like A_E, AI, and AY.
But what about EIGH, like in eight? Or EY, like in prey?
Thanks to this new memory challenge activity that I do with my students, my highest level spellers are able to name all of the graphemes for each of the long vowel sounds. 😍
This one page allows me to keep practicing phonemes and graphemes. Plus, the kids actually love it, too. I have truly loved watching them become more confident in using what they know and applying it to the memory challenge.
